In Sunlight 03:17
I could blame on the sun, sitting so pretty on your shoulders, or on my heightened emotional state // But I'm doing my best to get out of my head, and I know this is hard for you // You're the strongest person I think I've ever met, when the sun wakes me in the morning, I wanna wake to you // Breathing lightly next to me, your eyes free of tears unlike they are right now, sitting next to me It was like the first time that I saw you, you were framed in sunlight // And I saw your brown eyes and what I'd been blind to -- oh God I want you back If I had it my way, if I hadn't screwed it up, I woulda walked along with you into the next sunrise // Just so I could pay attention to how your eyes change in every kind of light // I lost perspective, I was lost in the dark, I'm a self-reflective fool, but I wanna be a fool for you // I was in your shade, for once you weren't in mine, I'm the problem to be fixed, and the truck almost drove by

With the new single “In Sunlight,” Fox & Coyote stays true to their singer-songwriter roots while expanding their sound with big tonal shifts and atmospheric noises. “In Sunlight” is a bridge between Fox & Coyote’s heart-on-your-sleeve acoustic songwriting from their previous records and the bigger, more assertive rock songs that will be on their upcoming full-length, due in 2018. The band worked with film director Maxwell Collyard and art director Leeya Jackson to make the music video for “In Sunlight.”

“The song is a very romanticized telling of a break-up, ultimately fantasizing about getting back together. I wrote the song about two years ago. A lot has changed since then, including how I think about that break-up. I wanted the music video to reflect that growth, so the video is intentionally ‘not romantic.’ It shows the reality of the break-up: being alone and dealing with that decision – and yes, at times dreaming about getting back together.” –Ryan Evans, songwriter
